Down Under Dive Club

Mission Blue is a an initiative by the Sylvia Earle Alliance (SEA), a non-profit organization. SEA was formed when Dr. Sylvia Earle urged people to create a grassroots campaign that urge the creation of a global network of marine protected areas. Dr. Sylvia Earle is a prominent ocean researcher. She has many honors for research and conservation advocacy and a solid career background. Today she works for National Geographic. The SEA explores and cares for the ocean. As part of Mission Blue, there is now a Netflix documentary to be released August 15 called Mission Blue.

Mission Blue has a few, specific steps that are suggested toward their ocean conservation goals:

• Reduce your carbon footprint
• Talk about what is going on
• Eat sustainable seafood (there's an app for that: Android or iPhone)
• "Refuse, Reuse, Recycle!" plastics (the refuse means encourage vendors and manufacturers to use less plastic packaging)
